Beautiful bookcase

The bookcase looks exactly as advertised and I'm loving it ... however please note that it really is a two-person job to put it together ... when I tried to do it on my own I ended up breaking the particle board in a couple of the places where it holds in the round disk with the screw inside ... with some help from a fix-it man friend that was taken care of and we put it together but with flipping it to get at the right angle ... more than once it really does take 2 people! Incredible Value for Price -- But See Review

I looked all over for a chest of drawers this size - almost impossible to find. But finally I did and it is perfect for the space requirements of our bedroom. I'm VERY pleased with it. It looks like MUCH more money than it was.



The only reason why I hesitated to give it a 5-star rating is that when the manufacturer says "assembly required" please understand that they REALLY mean it. This chest came in a box packed full of all the PIECES needed to construct it. The instructions are in booklet format -- 25 pages long! Thank goodness my husband is handy. I can imagine many people sending it right back. However it all went together well and now we have a beautiful piece of furniture.



One more thing -- it is VERY heavy which is unusual in a less expensive piece of furniture. I couldn't find a weight on the box but trust me when I say that our UPS man hates us after this last delivery!



Also the piece is made in the USA -- another plus!More detail ...

beautiful modern styling

I bought this stand knowing that eventually I would get a widescreen TV. It currently houses a 27" standard tube set but that leaves me room for some books on one end and my PlayStation 2 on the other. The center area has one adjustable shelf with enough room for a large Sony receiver TiVo DVD recorder and a DVD-changer. Behind each door is another shelf suitable for DVDs or PS2 games and accessories.
I don't know if I would put a 34" widescreen tube TV on this unit though. The top shelf needs to be thicker to support that much weight. It would be no problem for an LCD set though.More detail ...

Great customer Service

I received the desk in a timely manner but when I opened the box I noticed a small crack in the desktop. I contacted Sauder and they immediately sent me out a replacement and I didn't need to go through the hassle of resending the cracked desktop. They were great! I would highly recommend this desk...although if you're not an avid "assembly-required" person I would suggest calling a friend. I put it together my self in a few hours while watching TV. Works for me.

I sew home decor projects from time to time and this desk works well for me. It does not have a lot of storage but it stores my sewing machine a few sewing books and 1 sewing basket and a few other notions. The rest of my scraps of fabric batting etc I store in my closet. I like that part of the top folds down so that the desk becomes smaller allowing me to tuck it into the corner of the bedroom when not in use. When I want to use it it has wheels on the bottom that make it easy to move. The surface space I find to be sufficient. The surface is heat resistant but is not meant to be used as a cutting surface. The desk looks nicer than I thought it would and I even really like the hardware. Although I should mention that I think the wood is slightly darker in person than in the picture.



Lastly I found this desk at Walmart online for $89 (+S&H + Tax) or in the store for $99 (+Tax). I went to Walmart and bought this in person for considerably less than you can buy this on Amazon or Target.

Nice product for the price but just watch the shipping and handling cost and the quality for this service. The box (heavy one) was delivered directly into my house but it was just placed someway it looked fine. Nice and elegant bookshelf worth the money ! A little tough to assemble though...

It took some time to assemble more than 2 hours. Especially if you are alone it is tough--but doable. I did it by myself. However if you can find a helper that will help greatly. The fully assembled unit is quite heavy. You have to erect it from the laydown position after the full assembly. One regular size guy can do it but maybe not a 5 ft woman.



I really need one more of these but I am a little reluctent when I think of the sweat I had to shed when assembling the first one. But after everything is assembled it is a beautiful sturdy bookshelf. Very elegant. Great match to my elegant APT !More detail ...
